Elegant Hairstyle

Hello guys I hope your having a great weekend =D. I was a bit bored tonight while browsing through random video's on youtube and saw one on how to fake a bob and I tried it on myself so to see what I would look like with shorter hair. When I was finished I pulled the rest on my hair back and I thought it looked very nice so I teased the hair to add more volume and bobby pinned the rest to the back on my head. Then I added a huge flower and a few diamonte pins. One piece fell out so I curled it which I think looks great. Its a bit hard to explain the technique so I'm thinking I may have to a video on it.
I think this look would be perfect for any formal event. I kept the makeup quite light so to not over power the hairstyle. Let me know what you guys think. Oh and one more thing I didn't do this by french twist (which I can not do coz my hair hates me) so if your one who can't do french twists then you should keep a lookout for this tutorial.

Peace xoxo

Project 10 Pan Challenge

The first time I heard about this concept I was immediately intrigued and wanted to take it on but I held off till now as I had to wait for the A Rose Romance Collection to be released. Now that I have bought all the necessities that I wanted from this collection I figured there is nothing stopping me now. So I have banning myself from purchasing any form of makeup and to make it a bit easier on myself I'm also throwing in a ban on hair products too (I have a bunch of nearly finished shampoo's and conditioners that just have to go). This ban will exclude hair tools both electrical and accessorized, nail products, facial skin care, and any other shower products or personal needs.
Since I started youtube my makeup ego has gone from hardly anything to an obsession and it has really effected my spending habits. Every time I have money to spare I usually spend it all on makeup and this isn't doing well to my wardrobe at all LOL. I think that this project is an excellent way for me to suppress my makeup urges and buy the other things that I have wanted but always pushed aside so my greedy makeup alter ego could have whatever it wanted first. I'm super excited about this as now I can get my hair done (about 1 month over due for a salon trip thanks to my makeup alter ego), update my wardrobe, buy 3 much wanted hair tools, and some other stuff I can't think of atm LOL. I'll try to update everyone on my progress. For now farewell my lovelies.

St. Ives Apricot Scrub

Well well well, look who's on a blogging role. Haha I guess I'm just in a really informative mood updating my blog this regularly. Anyways so as you can see due to the pic and title above this is a post about St. Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish & Blackhead Control. I'm running out of proactiv and money is a bit tight atm so I thought I'd try this. I don't really get pimples anymore thanks to proactiv and my MAC Fix+ but I still thought its important to get a product for pimples rather then one for normal skin even though my skin may not need it anymore. The reason why is because you don't know how your skin will react when changing products especially if your going from a pimple treated product to a normal cleanser that is from a different company (if that makes sense lol). So far I've only used it once and I must say it feels like a treat using it plus its not too fruity so your hubby or boyfriend can use it too. I believe the little beads/sand flakes in it are an apricots pip only crushed to make these small exfoliants. The thickness and texture of the actual cream is quite moisturizing and creamy so to protect the skin from the small pieces on pip taking too much off. Some people have said that they would only recommend it to be used a few times a week but I think that with a soft hand it could be used once a day no problem (except if you have extremely sensitive dry skin). It makes my face feel so soft afterwards but as I have only used it once I will have to update you guys on my thoughts of it in the next few weeks. Wish me luck its definitely a lot cheaper then proactiv.

Where Do I Buy ___?

I always get the same old question asking where do I get my makeup. Most commonly these include too faced, MAC, NARS, NYX (OMG I get asked for that one the most), OPI... So I've made a video with the answers. From now on I'm just going to direct people in the direction of this video rather then repeatedly answering every single one. If I'm asked about products/brands that are not in this video then I will go back and type where I got ____ in the description box. So if your curious where I got ____ then please check this video first and if I don't have it there or in the description box then just message me I'll let you know and add it to the description box.
Lata guys xoxo

A Rose Romance Haul

Haulage time, it was quite a feat getting to the MAC store today as the weather was crazy windy and stormy. That's the randomness of Perth weather though LOL. Anyways I got everything I said I would except for the See Thru Lip Colours (yes MAC actually spelt it like "colour" not "color" omg must be to tie in with a more refined english rose theme, doesn't bother me though coz thats how us aussie's spell it too). I didn't get the lip stain simply because I didn't want to spend too much and usually when I have to cut something from my wish list it is almost always lip products first. Just because there are many cheaper lip products on the market that can dupe MAC's. I also got a special teasing comb from Priceline and two more Artiste brushes (not Artistry which is what I use to call them LOL until I actually took a closer look) that I got last week.

Here are the products
MAC
  • Fix + Rose
  • Beauty Powder in Blush of Youth
  • Just a Pinch Gel Blush
Artiste
  • Angled Brush 18
  • Powder Brush 13 (travel brush)
Priceline
  • Style Essentials Teasing Comb

So far I have decided on getting Just a Pinch gel blush, Fix + Rose, one of the Beauty Powders (not sure which one I want yet), and See Thru Lip Colour in Loving Touch. This will mean that I'll have to postpone my hair appointment once again LOL. I may pick them up tomorrow so I'll let you all know my thoughts on these products. Once I've tried them out.

A Good Night Out On The Town Eyeliner

I was a bit bored and couldn't do any video's (coz its night) so I thought I'd post some pic's on my blog from last Sunday night. My husband and I met up with some friends at the Rivervale Hotel and then we all headed to the Casino and the Ruby Room. We all had a pretty fun night with lots on drinks LOL. Anyways this isn't just a personal blog its also sort of like a review. Back before I had my MAC Powerpoint liner I would get the most massive panda eye's and they always got to their worst when I became intoxicated hahahaha. In the bottom photo it had been about 4 hours since applying my liner and the first photograph was taken just before heading home in the early hours of the morning (I'm quite intoxicated in this pic if you can't tell already LOL). I already knew that this had great staying power from when I first used it on a night out but I thought I would share this for you guys now anyway. MAC Powerpoint in Engraved is a awesome black liner that can be applied to the waterliner, its also waterproof, and can be blended nicely without having to worry that it will smear everywhere by the time your nights through. If your one who would really like to find a good eyeliner that will last through your wild nights then this might be the liner for you. Its also a really good everyday liner as it isn't as black as some liners.

I smoked the liner on the bottom lashlines a bit, thats why it looks a bit smokey.

On another note I also wore my MAC Fluidline in Blaktrack on my upper lid and it didn't budge all night =)

My 50th Video Contest is now up!! Woohoo I'm so excited. If your interested in entering please do, one of the main reasons why people hold contests is to encourage new comers to make video's. All the rules and such are in the video or in the description box (in youtube). The day after filming this I received the Smashbox Muse Artist Palette along with MAC's Fig 1 E/S that I picked up for myself, I really love Matte2 E/S. I'll post pics at the bottom on this post. Review MAC Line Filler

MAC Prep & Prime Line Filler from the Colour Ready Collection... What can I say about this little baby? Well I chose to get this one instead of the Skin Refined Zone because out of all the reviews I heard on the Skin Refined Zone no one ever stated that it helped cover their pores, but I did hear quite a few people saying that the Line Filler did. So I got this one instead, and now here is my verdict. I don't love it or hate it and I think the reason why I don't love it is because I had such high expectations for it. It did however help my pore a bit but it didn't completely make them disappear which is what I was stupidly expecting LOL. So it was sort of worth it as there are plenty of products out there that promise to minimize pore and do absolutely nothing and this product isn't even suppose to cover pores yet it does. I think it may end up being one of those products that will grow on me in time until I love it. As to how to use it everyone says that you only need a small amount (its also a small tube so using too much will make you broke) and for those who have never used a primer you put it on before your makeup. I find that my skin really absorbs this product especially when I have a dry face (I mean not damp or wet) so I always make sure that before I apply it I put on moisturizer so the line filler can be spread evenly. As for wrinkles I can't comment much because I only have a few & I have been mainly focussing on my pores. In short here is my pro's and con's for this product...
Pro's -
-Helps cover pores
-Works as a good primer under your foundation
-Only need a small amount
-Doesn't make my skin look or feel greasy
-The packaging is a squeezable tube so it's not exposed to the sunlight or air
-The size is great for travel
Con's -
-It's a bit expensive
-The tube is small
-Expires in 6 months
-The lid is more rounded then flat so it doesn't stand up well

Also just a quick update of what I've been into lately and that is facebook's farm town. Its a cute little game where you make your own little farm. To play it you have to have a facebook account.
Anyways my next video will be my 50th so I'll be celebrating by throwing a contest =) but you all will have to wait for that video to see what theme I have chosen. Love you guys xoxo

Haul Time

Just a bit of a haul today hehe. I stopped into Lush to buy my sister and Mum some goodies for Mothers Day and my Sisters Birthday. I got my sister the Wild Child Gift Pack and for my mum I got her the Honey Farm Gift Pack. While I was there I also picked up another Big Buffy Body Butter and a Massage Bar in Each Peach and because I spent so much the sales lady gave me a free Massage Bar in Soft Coeur. I needed some new hair products so I went to Priceline as well and bought John Frieda Collection Luxurious Volume, Organix Coconut Milk Leave-In Nourishing Milk, Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm, Moose Head Shaping Dough, Savy Lip Jewels in Diamond, and a pair of scissor tweezers by Priceline. On Saturday I stopped into MAC and bought the Prep + Prime Line Filler Base which I have only used a few times now so I can't give my options on it yet until I have had more experience using it. Finally the last few photo's are of the W7 Paintbox 77 Eyeshadow Palette which I bought from my local chemist called "My Chemist" for only $9.99. Most of the colours have a satin finish with a few that are more frosted. There isn't any matte colours but for $9.99 how could I go wrong? Some colours can be chalkier then others but all up I thinks its pretty good quality. I may do a haul video about this so if you are interested in anything mentioned in this post and would like to hear more about it then please let me know so I can bring it up in the video for you. Don't forget to follow my blog and subscribe to my youtube account. Love Jodie xoxo

Your First Makeup?

Hey guys I hope everyone is well and had an awesome weekend =). Anyways I was asked by an anonymous person what age I started wearing makeup and what I think is an appropriate age to start? I have always loved playing with makeup ever since I was a little girl, I use to get into my Mum's makeup and make a mess out of everything LOL. When I was eleven and twelve my sister and Mum would let me wear a bit of lippy and glittery eye shadow to school dances but it wasn't until I was 13 that I started wearing makeup. I personally believe that the age you start wearing makeup should be based on how mature you are and parental permission. This age I think is about 13 or 14 but not everyone is the same. If you have parents that will not allow you to wear makeup then I suggest that you calmly negotiate with them (e.g just wear lipgloss and eyeshadow), this will not only show your wishes to your parents but it will also show your maturity.

I was quite brave back then when it came to makeup as I loved really shimmery bright colours but when asked by a preteen or teenager what sort of makeup to wear I would tell them to start out with more neutral colours first. I think a good natural look for a teen would include a little foundation, mascara, a cute eyeshadow (not too shimmery or bright), and a translucent lipgloss. Start off simple first then when your knowledge grows about products start adding on concealer, blush, translucent powder, bronzer, brown eyeliner, brow filler, lipsticks, highlighter, primers... the list can go on and can be quite overwhelming and confusing so take my advice and just start simple.

Like I said I have always enjoyed applying makeup but it wasn't until about 2 years ago that I started to get really into it. It takes time and practice to learn how to apply makeup properly so don't get discouraged if it doesn't always turn out right. Youtube has taught me so much in makeup artistry so its good to have that source of knowledge there. =)
